Emblem

Emblem.  The dictionary describes it as, "An object or a representation that functions as a symbol".  Perhaps so, when did you pass by a Starbucks last?  And what did that bring to mind? now don't think!  If you however, actually did think, for many of you, the answer would be "coffee", and when you saw the Playboys stacked high at the news stand by the sidewalk, were you preoccupied by office politics or were you simply wondering what to get for lunch?  Chances are, that you thought of neither, rather a situation or a scenario.  Here's a couple of illustrations on how a symbol can become emblemized.  Thus we have the Modern Day Pieta, with her designer diaper bag, ergonomically correct stroller with baby ensconsced in it, cell phone or blackberry and last but not the least Starbucks!
