In keeping with my focus on icons and symbols, here’s an exploration of the process of perception and predisposition. In the end it might yet be a question about the chicken or the egg…
The medicine cabinet is a private place. Apart from reflecting the user’s health and beauty regimen, it bears testimony of the user’s lifestyle and perception of self. Perception of self is a subjective process that registers only what the state of mind allows. Thus, the process of self scrutiny confirms to a pattern.
The 2 medicine cabinets, mirror elements of the face of Aishwarya Rai, the woman propounded as, “the most beautiful in the world”. One is juxtaposed with 5th century Iranian tile shapes of 8 point stars and crosses, the other with small imprints of the face of the subject herself. The objects of daily use such as a lipstick, cosmetics or medicine and ointments are displayed on the self. The aspiration of the user is to attain a state of beauty and good health. The objects are enablers of such intent.

Even though forensically skulls may be identified as belonging to separate individuals, to the naked eye, there is little that distinguishes one skull from the next. Similarly, at an atomic level, what stretches over the skull is one and the same, unless analyzed with predetermined criteria.
